What does the '26' stand for?
At the time of Jackie's passing, her eldest daughter was 25 years old. This brought fourth the heart breaking realization that her Jackie would never know her daughter at 26. By naming ourselves The 26 Foundation, we honor Jackie by seeing her continued presence in her daughters lives, and the community she loved.
What is the mission of The 26 Foundation?
The 26 Foundation was founded with the goal of ensuring that anyone in their 20's or younger who loses a parent has the necessary tools and community to help them navigate grief. The loss of a parent is tough for anyone, but it is uniquely challenging during your formative years as an adolescent and young adult. Through our efforts we will provide financial support for grief counseling services, a community for like-experiences and a network of resources. Whether you are trying to help a friend, a family member, or you yourself are grieving, we are here for you.
Where does The 26 Foundation operate?
While our founder is located in Jacksonville, Florida, the greatest amount of our support activities are currently conducted in the greater North Eastern New York area. However, our organization is available to support grieving young hearts at a national level. Please don't let location hinder you from reaching out to us for support.

Yes it is! That means all donations are tax-deductible. You will receive a receipt for your donation.

Where does my money go when I donate to your organization?
All donations received will be used toward providing support to individuals experiencing parental loss. Our goals are 1) to give financial support to individuals, age 29 and younger, that are seeking grief counselling, but do not have the means to access it, 2) create a space where people with shared experiences can come together to form a supportive community, which may entail costs (such as refreshments or room rental if it is an in person meeting), and
3) create a scholarship for a graduating student, who experienced parental loss in their life, and attends the school Jackie worked at and loved.

Who runs the organization?
Our organization is run by a Board of Directors. We currently have 5 seats on the board, with 3 that our filled. The founder-Board President, the Vice-President, and the secretary. We are accepting applications for the two open seats. If you would like to apply to be on the board, please go to the "Who We Are" tab, and fill out the form.
